Our founders,
João Paulo Krajewski & Roberta Bonaldo

João Paulo and Roberta are Brazilian biologists, with PhD degrees  in Ecology. They have published more than 70 scientific papers, 5 books, and dozens of popular articles on natural history and animal behaviour. Passionate about wildlife, they started their own company, Natural History Brazil, aiming to bring images and stories on nature and wildlife to a wider audience.
Together, they have produced 3 natural history series, one film, and two segments for TV programs in Brazil, where they presented more than 100 stories about natural history and nature. João and Roberta have also provided services as camera operators, fixer and scientific advisors to more than 40 international productions from companies such as the BBC, Silverback Films, Humble Bee, Plimsoll, Wildspace, Wildstar, River Road, among others.

João Paulo Krajewski

João Paulo is a Brazilian biologist, with a PhD degree in Ecology. He is an experienced cameraman, with works as DOP and camera operator for blue chip films produced by the BBC (The Americas, The Green Planet, Dogs in the Wild, Primates, Earth's Great Rivers etc), Humble Bee Films (Life in Colour with David Attenborough, Secret World of Sounds etc), Plimsoll (Animal), Silverback Films (Parenthood), among others. João is a GSS operator, rope expert (IRATA) and dive master, with more than 4,000 dives.

João has also produced and presented the series Florestas Animais, exhibited by Animal Planet and Discovery in Latin America. Further, he produced the series Vida no Azul, and Histórias Animais, both currently at Animal Planet and by Discovery+ in Latin America.

During his career, João has traveled to more than 60 countries. He is an Amazon expert, having leaded more than 40 filming expeditions to this forest in locations in Brazil, Ecuador, and Peru. He has also filmed in other Brazilian ecosystems, such as the Pantanal, Caatinga, Atlantic Rainforest, Cerrado, the coast and oceanic islands.

Roberta Martini Bonaldo

Roberta is a Brazilian Biologist with a PhD in Marine Biology. She is an experienced researcher and local producer/ fixer, with works for productions of the BBC (Planet Earth 3, The Americas), Silverback (Parenthood), Wilspace Productions (Our Water World), Wildstar Films (Underdogs, Sentient), Plimsoll Productions (Animal), Humble Bee Films (Airborne), River Road Films (Shared Planet), Dandy Lion Films (Raptors), Windfall Films (The Forest), among others.

Roberta also worked as camera assistant and second camera in productions such as Earth's Great Rivers, Primates (BBC), Life in Colour with David Attenborough (Humble Bee Films), among others.

In Brazil, she has also worked as a producer and presenter of Domingão Aventura, at Globo TV, and Desbravadores do Planeta, at Band TV, both segments specialized in wildlife and adventure. She also produced the series Vida no Azul, currently aired by Animal Planet in Latin America.

Roberta traveled to more than 40 countries. In Brazil, she has been in more than 30 filming expeditions only to the Amazon. She has also experience working in other Brazilian ecosystems, such as the Pantanal, Cerrado, and in the coast and oceanic islands.

Edson Faria Júnior

Edson is a Brazilian biologist with a MSc. degree in Ecology. He is an experienced camera operator, with works for blue chip films from international production companies, such as the BBC (The Green Planet, The Americas), Wildspace (Our Ocean), Wildstar Films (Sentient), Humble Bee (Airborne), among others.

Edson is a rope expert and dive instructor, with more than 3000 dives. He is also the founder of the Explora Web magazine, which has the aim of bringing themes related to the natural environment to the general public. Passionate about outdoors, and working on conservation and communication, Edson has the ability to connect Academia, NGOs and society, in developing media content for different platforms. He has developed the website “Tropical Rainforests”, the documentary about the “Ecorais Project”, podcasts, web videos and educational campaigns. In 2020, he worked as editor of the series Vida no Azul, currently at Discovery+ in the entire Latin America.

Aguinaldo Matos

Aguinaldo is a journalist, screenwriter, producer, editor and program director. He worked for more than 25 years at EPTV, a network affiliated with Rede Globo. In addition to participating in the regional news coverage team, he was editor-in-chief of the Terra da Gente program. By directing, editing and producing, Aguinaldo took part in more than 60 special productions for Globo Repórter, one of the oldest and most renowned programs in Brazilian TV, and more than 20 stories for Desbravadores do Planeta, a segment on nature and animal behavior of TV show Faustão na Band. He was also the main editor of the series Histórias Animais, currently exhibited at Animal Planet and Discovery Plus in the entire Latin America. Aguinaldo works mostly editing films for our company, but also filming some stories.

    Jonathan Fortolan Ribeiro

    Jonathan is an expert on logistics of our team. He has a degree on people management and is a professional driver, with over 30 years of experience. 

    Jonathan is the right band of Roberta Bonaldo when organizing the logistics of filming productions, and has worked for Natural History Brazil since 2016. He has worked as a driver and field assistant for filming trips of the maned wolf sequence of Planet Earth III - in the photo, Jonathan (black t-shirt) poses with maned wolf scientists and camera operator Edson Faria Júnior.

    Jonathan has also provide logistics and driving services for several shoots of the companies BBC Studios, Wildspace Productions, Wildstar Films, Silverback Films, and for several productions of Natural History Brazil.

    Marcelo Barreiros

    Marcelo is a biologist with wide experience in ornithology, specially in the Amazon and Atlantic forests in Brazil, and other regions in South America. He currently works as Birdwatching guide and free-lancer fixer environmental consultant. He is also a specialist in recording high quality sounds and works as a camera assistant in our productions.

    Marcelo has worked for blue chip films from international production companies, such as Humble Bee Films (Secret World of Sound with David Attenborough; Airborne) and Dandy Lion Films (Raptors). He has also worked as scientific advisor and guide for productions in Brazil, such as Desbravadores do Planeta, a segment of the TV show Faustão na Band.

    Andre de Luca

    Andre is a Biologist and Business Administrator who loves wildlife. Besides his expertise in ornithology, Andre has contributed to scientific publications of several animal groups. He works mostly as environmental consultant and birdwatching guide in different biomass of Brazil. Andre is also the senior organizer of the book "Áreas Importantes para a Conservação da Aves no Brasil. Parte II: Amazônia, Cerrado e Pantanal", and has worked on several projects for the conservation of Brazilian birds.
